1st Annual Horror Academy Award Nominations

On January 23rd, the nominations for the 97th Academy Awards were revealed. This year, the horror films The Substance, Alien: Romulus, and Nosferatu received nominations. However, horror representation remains limited. It's well-known that horror is often overlooked during the 'big awards'. In 97 years, only 21 horror films have been nominated for an Academy Award. The 1991 horror thriller, Silence of The Lambs, is the only horror film to have won Best Picture. Many horror films truly deserve more recognition during award seasons. It's time for horror to receive that spotlight. As a horror movie enthusiast myself, I have created my own Academy Awards dedicated solely to horror films. Vote for your favorite below:
