Review
The feeling of being young and different was really well portrayed in this book. Everything that happened to Avery was believable. I was really impressed by the pacing and the plot of the novel. It wasn't too over the top and it also kept my attention. Also, the way that the relationships evolved and unraveled in this novel was beautiful. I liked how not every family detail/secret was given at once. I really had to keep reading to peel off every layer of the book.
The only criticism that I have of this book is that there were some parts of the story that was slow. But, that barely really happened. Overall, I would 100% recommend this book. It was a good representation of Blackness and good and thorough lessons to be learned throughout the book
