Summer is just around the corner which means lots of fun summer activities will be held. That also means that there will be a fantastic lineup of movies and TV shows that I am super excited about. Grab some popcorn and grab your TV buddy because here are some tv shows and movies that I will be watching this summer:
Movies
Thor: Love and Thunder
Of course, I had to start with Thor, it's Marvel, and (as you all know) I love Marvel! This movie seems to be about Thor's retirement from superhero work and his final goodbye to the big screen. This comedy fill and jam-packed action movie is a good way to say goodbye to the God of Thunder. This is probably the most anticipated film on the list and I cannot wait to see it. Also, the Guardians of the Galaxy are in it too, it's like the perfect sundae with a cherry on top!
Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman

Jurassic World: Dominion

After an almost thirty-year run, this infamous franchise will finally be coming to a close this summer. With the return of Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neil), Ellie Slater (Laura Deen), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), there is no doubt in my mind that these tickets will sell out fast. After a very shocking ending to the previous film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, dinosaurs and humans now have to find a way to coexist. It will be interesting to see how that unravels and the excitement for this movie makes it like the waiting is worth it.
Cast: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neil

Nope
After the success of Get Out and Us, the Academy-Award winner, Jordan Peele, introduces another mind-bending film into the horror genre.

After witnessing an abnormal event, residents of a California town must get to the bottom of it before anything worse happens. I love a good horror movie and if this one is like Peele's other two, I will be watching indeed. The cast is amazing, with Academy Award winner Daniel Kuluuya and Keke Palmer, this movie is sure to make waves. The sci-fi features along with the creepy and eerie elements make this movie even more unique. I am already counting down the days!
Cast: Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun

Bodies, Bodies, Bodies
Just as much as I love Marvel movies, I love horror movies equally so. However, this one really stands out in terms of horror elements.

After finding a party game while hanging out, a group of friends soon find themselves in a real-life 'whodunnit' and must find the murderer amongst them. However, they must find out who it is quickly before the murderer strikes again. Distributed by A24 (Euphoria, Midsommer, It Comes At Night), this film has already passed the threshold of being a stand-out. With the gen-z humor and the old school slasher features, this is setting up to be the horror film of the summer.
Cast: Amandla Stenberg, Pete Davidson, Maria Bakalova

Lightyear
Pixar/ via youtube.com
Everyone is a kid at heart, so that means a good animated movie will always reel you back into your childlike imagination. The last time Buzz Lightyear was seen on a movie screen was in 2019's Toy Story 4. This stand-alone Buzz Lightyear film follows Buzz as he journeys to Earth millions of years in the future. Buzz must find his way back home with the help of a dysfunctional and inexperienced crew. This animated film will have, comedy, action, and heart-felt moments (in true Pixar manner). This will surely be a good film to see as a family.
Cast: Chris Evans, Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi

TV Shows
Stranger Things Season 4
Netflix/ via youtube.com
After a wait that seems like forever (three years to be exact), this 80s-inspired TV show is finally over the horizon. Season 4 Vol 1 will pick up where season 3 left off. The five kids, now teenagers, are split up and living their own lives until something mysterious and supernatural brings them back together. I am so excited for this season. The music, visual effect, and plot are both fast-paced and riveting. I already can't wait until Vol 2 of this season comes out.
Cast: Wiona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard,
Release Date: Vol 1 (May 27th, 2022), Vol 2 (July 1st, 2022)

Ms. Marvel
Marvel Studios/ via youtube.com
This series adds something new to the Marvel franchise that I am excited to see. This show follows the life of a sixteen-year-old Avengers super fan, specifically Captain Marvel. As she struggles to fit in in school she has a whole new problem, she starts developing her own powers. This is something new that I haven't really seen Marvel do yet. Following a girl in a high school and getting her story will be so cool to see develop.
Cast: Iman Vellani, Matt Linz, Yasmeen Fletcher

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law
Wow! what a shocker, another Marvel TV show.
Marvel Studios/ via youtube.com
Similar to Hawkeye, this series seems like a final goodbye to Bruce Banner and a first hello to Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk). This series follows the life of Jennifer Walters as an attorney in her 30s. Jennifer also must find a way to keep the big and green superhero inside her under control. I think that this show will bring a good closure to Bruce Banner and introducing a female Hulk is a big step in the MCU franchise.
Cast: Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo, Tim Roth

Umbrella Academy Season 3
This time-bending, sci-fi, action TV show returns for a season three. After fixing the doomsday that they created in 1963 (season 3), the Hargreeves family returns home to the present. However, things go awry when they find an identical, and better, family that calls themselves the Sparrow Academy. They immediately despise each other, however, the Hargreeves realize that they may have to work together with their counterparts in order to fix a time anolmly. Out of all the TV shows on this list, this may be one of the most unique shows that I have watched. It's weird, yet stylish and always makes me wonder what is going to happen next. And I, for one, am very excited to see what will happen next. After a two-year wait, this series is back and unique as ever.
