Why I'm Excited for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is almost here! In exactly five days, we are getting the long-awaited sequel. Within this last month, there were trailers, press rollouts, and even Rihanna's return to music. Exciting things are happening before the movie's release that is making Marvel fans, including me, excited for the sequel. Those things include:

The Soundtrack

Black Panther's soundtrack was one of the most talented and extraordinary artists. The composer of the soundtrack even won the Academy Award for Best Original Score The vibes and aesthetic of the soundtrack of the movie were the cherries on top. The music from the first soundtrack was curated by Kendrick Lamar including the lead single 'All The Stars' with SZA. The soundtrack For the sequel was just released and it's looking just as successful as its predecessor. Here is the soundtrack:

1. Rihanna — “Lift Me Up”

2. DBN Gogo, Sino Msolo, Kamo Mphela, Young Stunna, and Busiswa — “Love & Loyalty (Believe)”

3. Burna Boy — “Alone”

4. Tems — “No Woman No Cry”

5. Vivir Quintana and Mare Advertencia — “Árboles Bajo El Mar”

6. Foudeqush and Ludwig Göransson — “Con La Brisa”

7. Snow Tha Product featuring E-40 — “La Vida”

8. Stormzy — “Interlude”

9. Fireboy DML — “Coming Back For You”

10. Tobe Nwigwe and Fat Nwigwe — “They Want It, But No”

11. ADN Maya Colectivo: Pat Boy, Yaalen K’uj, All Mayan Winik — “Laayli’ kuxa’ano’one”

12. OG DAYV featuring Future — “Limoncello”

13. CKay featuring PinkPantheress — “Anya Mmiri”

14. Bloody Civilian featuring Rema — “Wake Up”

15. Alemán featuring Rema — “Pantera”

16. DBN Gogo, Sino Msolo, Kamo Mphela, Young Stunna and Busiswa — “Jele”

17. Blue Rojo — “Inframundo”

18. calle x vida and Foudeqush — “No Digas Mi Nombre”

19. Guadalupe de Jesús Chan Poot — “Mi Pueblo”

With Rihanna breaking her six-year hiatus, this is surely a top-notch soundtrack. Something that I like about this soundtrack is its authenticity. There are mostly African American artists on this soundtrack. This is really important for the culture and it shows that the director, Ryan Coogler, is really thinking about the African American community in every way possible. The research that went into the soundtrack should also go unnoticed. , The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack is out now!

RiRi Williams

This exclusive clip is introducing Riri Wiliams a.k.a Ironheart. This new character is such as good addition to the Marvel Universe. She is smart, funny, and most importantly she is a black woman in STEM. This representation is so important for any black girl looking to go into STEM majors. Ironheart is said to have the most brilliant mind in the MCU, even more, brilliant than Tony Stark, so her character will surely be interesting. RiRi Williams will be portrayed by Dominique Thorne, a New York Native. RiRi will also be getting her own show Ironheart, which is based in Chicago. The show will be on Disney+ sometime in 2023.

Cinematography and Costumes

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, one of the things that captivated me was the effects and the cinematography. Paired with the music, the shots and imagery were truly powerful. Ruth E. Carter is the costume designer for this film. She is now a Oscar winning costume designer due to her work in the first Black Panther film. On top of that, she is the first African American to win in that category.

To me, this looks like a Marvel movie that took time to make. The effort put into the movie doesn't feel rushed and I can't wait to see the action sequences and the beautiful scenery of the film. The trailer felt like a Marvel movie type trailer.

Box Office Sales

The reason why I'm excited to see the box office sales is that I know, and hope, that this movie will break records at the box office. On Wikipedia, the estimated box office for the film is $175 million in North America. The first film made $700 million in North America and a worldwide total of $1.347 billion. It was the highest-grossing solo superhero and the third-highest-grossing MCU film. Even though those are big shoes to fill, I know that with support it will be possible. This is the last movie in Phase Four of the MCU, so people should want to see it to know how it all ends.

Tribute To Chadwick Boseman

After the heartbreaking death of Chadwick Boseman, the world was shocked and sad. I know when I got the news I couldn't believe it at first. His contribution to the MCU and other films was highly appreciated. He lead a whole generation of black kids and inspired them. Rihanna released a song in tribute to him and it was beautiful and well-deserved. The film may be hard to get through because of his absence, but his spirit will live forever.

The cast honored him by wearing all white to the premiere. Letitia Wright (Shuri) even wore a similar outfit that Boseman wore at the first film's premiere.

It is only right that his tribute is present because of his hard work as an actor. Whoever takes over his role as the next Black Panther should be honored and I think that people should treat them with the same respect as they did with Chadwick Boseman. That role could not have been easy to take, yet they still took it and we, the audience, should honor that.
